Swimming Pool

Enjoying swimming for the first time at our school is really fun! Having great swimming teachers, teaching us like Chris, Alice, Matt, Nicole and Stacy is cool. Swimming at lunch times aer so because it takes up all the lunch time break and it becomes cool. I’ve also learnt how to kick with out splashing. Its so enjoyable to have a really huge pool that every one can fit in.

Monach Butterfly

A monach butterfly lays her egg on a leaf. It hatches somewhere between three and twelve days later. When the sun rises the egg bursts open and out pops a caterpillar.
The caterpillar goes and finds some food to eat because it is hungry. It finds juicy green leaves so it can grow fat and turn into a beautiful butterfly. Once it finishes finding its food, it finds a peaceful place and a leaf. The caterpillar curls up and becomes a chrysalis. It takes two weeks to transform.
The butterfly has to wait for its wings to dry and stiffen before they can fly away.

Osana's Cross Country

Nervous waiting on the cold hard concrete, I challenged myself to beat my mates at the cross-country race today. As the invisible wind was blowing, it was so cold that it was bitting my face. Each time I turned around I could hardly see any one behind me. I stopped a few times but, feeling exhilarated as Turuhira caught me, I sprinted to the finish line. I was happy when it was over, but also a bit tired too.

Netball Training

When I train for netball I always practice step and passing before we start. Shooting is hard but quite easy for my aunty. My favorite netball player is Maria Tutaia. When ever I play netball I always think of her. My team has never ever lost any games this year.
One night, on Saturday we played against St. Cuthberts Jr. School, and we beat them by moving our body and shooting well. We have won lots of trophys from the AMI stadium club. After all our games we get a treat from the coach, which is my mum. When ever I play netball I always believe in my self.

I went sailing!

Sailing on the Auckland Harbour, the icy wind was biting my face. Being out on the cold water was really shivery. Pulling with all our strength, heaving and struggling we got the halliard to raise the sails. As we were sailing down to the shore we watched our wake trailing behind us. Gale force wind was lashing my hair as we were sailing away from the harbour bridge. After turning around I was able to see our flag flying in the sky. I felt awesome after the cool trip.

Our Pirate Wordle

This is a Wordle about stories that we have written about pirates and that we have created. This tells us about the words that we have used in our sentences and stories. This shows that perhaps we need to put more interesting words in our story.

The Amazing Eruption of Street Drop

I really liked it when the volcano erupted.
Our group should put more details and more information in our voice-over and volcano movie.
The best part that we have did well was working together as a group .
I learnt to be a nicer person and being helpful to a group I work with.
Next time I would change to save my green screen animation correctly and not to draw six times.

League Story

Kevin Locke needed a stretcher to exit the AMI stadium, but it was the Roosters that were feeling sad.
Luckily there were fifty three seconds for the Warriors to score a try and when that last minute came Kevin Locke threw himsef into the base of the goalpost, and scored the winning try for the Warriors.

I am making movies Awards

We entered the 'I am making movies' competition, that was run by our Auckland Museum. We won the creative story telling section! This movie is from the Awards evening, held yesterday at the Auckland Museum. You will see here our year 7 Kapahaka group who opened the evening. This is followed by us - the talented Room 14 Actors who were in the winning movie. Thanks to all the fantastic people who helped us with this movie. Click here to watch our movie.

He Tangata, He Tangata, He Tangata

We made this movie as part of a competition for the Auckland Museum. Lots of schools from all over Auckland entered the competition. We were delighted to find out that we had made the finals. We got to go to the awards ceremony at the museum too. Keisha Castle-Hughes even gave out the prizes!
The idea of our movie is that even though technology has changed throughout the years, people are still the most important thing in our lives.
All of us enjoyed making the movie. We were so excited to find out that we had won the most Creative Storytelling category. We think our movie is just AWESOME - What do you think?

Active Earth

This is my animation about me running away from a dangerous volcano. It is pouring out lava.

Rainy Day

Early in the morning, the rain came down and it completely blanketed the school. The rain bucketed down onto the roof. It made a very big puddle on the court. The cold dangerous weather was so sad and dismal.

Iron Brion

Yesterday afternoon, half of the school went to see Iron Brion. He taught us how to be a healthy school. We played some games with Iron Brion. Some kids won some amazing prizes. Iron Brion told us about some very important foods for our body. At the end of the show we ate hamburgers.

Do the Right Thing

Favourite Thing at Camp

At camp my favourite activity was kayaking. The first group were kayaking down by the sea. Kindcrew were at Pt England School. They needed a boat and a paddle, and some instructions. The rules were , stay in the little bay and don't go past the teachers.I was so scared beacause I thought that I was going to go past the teachers.I was nervous about the paddles, beacause I might not use them proprerly.I was excited to get out of the boat beacause I was cold in the canoe , and I had a nice warm shower.I was cold at the reserve beacause the wind was blowing in and it also made the waves go left.I learnt that if I paddle left it will take me to the right, but if I paddle it will take me to the left where the waves are going. I felt so glad.
