Sir Francis Drake

Sir Francis Drake, born in 1540 in England was a very bold and brillant sailor. Queen Elizabeth the 1st gave alot of encouragement to Drake and he made England become a very sea power. He was the first Englishman to sail around the world, in his ship the Golden Hinde.
Drake started his voyage from England, passed through the Magellan strait and into the Pacific Ocean, along the Western Shores of the Americas and into Asia. He stole spices and Spanish treasures, and also claimed land for his queen.
Francis Drake returned back to Britian 3 years later with alot of treasure and Queen Elizabeth the 1st was so amazed.

  1. Hi Osana,
My name is Sarah Pierce and I am from Dr. Strange’s EDM310 class in Mobile, Alabama at the University of Southern Alabama. You did a really nice summary on Sir Francis Drake’s life. He did a lot for Queen Elizabeth by stealing spices, Spanish treasures, and getting her land. I can see why he is an English hero. He was a great explorer. I also thought it was really nice that you attached a picture of Sir Francis Drake!
